Had a demo of the GOBO lighting - at Ryerson. Very informative.
I had a very different idea of what a gobo projector is exactly. What it is, is a light which can incorporate a GOBO filter and rotater motor. Who knew? Below is a picture of an ETC source 4.
The bad news is Ryerson does not have that equipment available, so it looks like I'm going to have to rent! I have one more resource person to go, and my fingers are crossed.
I have experimented using a homemade 'GOBO' type filter. I used card stock and cut out shapes to resemble tree foliage.
Movie one - filter placed in front of a projector and the projected image was manipulated by changing the focus on the projector. Pretty old school, but it was an interesting effect. The second clip the filter again was placed in front of the project as a mock GOBO filter and the image was manipulated in After Effects to fade the image in and out.
